Pickleball in Boardman, Ohio
Boardman has public outdoor pickleball at Boardman Park and indoor pickleball activity at the Davis Family YMCA. Boardman Park is the simple choice when you already have a partner or group. Players who want scheduled open play, a rotation into games, or year-round programming have a stronger organized option nearby at the JCC of Youngstown.
Courts in Boardman and Nearby
-
Boardman Park
375 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman, OH 44512
Boardman Park includes tennis/pickleball courts among its public open-space amenities. These courts are first come, first served and do not require a reservation for ordinary use. The park does not publish a recurring pickleball open play schedule, so this is most predictable when you bring your own partner or group. See Boardman Park courts and amenities.
-
Davis Family YMCA
45 McClurg Road, Boardman, OH 44512
The Davis YMCA provides indoor gym space used for pickleball and has long been an important weather-proof option for Boardman players. YMCA programming has priority in the gym, so pickleball availability changes with the facility schedule. Nonmembers can purchase a $10 daily guest pass, and visiting YMCA members can use Nationwide Membership when eligible. See current YMCA schedules and guest access information.
-
JCC of Youngstown - nearby in Youngstown
505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, OH 44504
The JCC is useful when you want organized games instead of simply finding an available court. Adult open play runs Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Play moves indoors for fall and winter and uses the outdoor complex during warmer weather. Nonmembers can buy pickleball passes. See organized open play and pickleball access.
The Davis YMCA is also building two dedicated outdoor pickleball courts in its Outdoor Recreation Area. Construction began in late August 2026, and the courts still require curing, fencing, and lining before opening. They should not yet be treated as available courts. See the outdoor court project update.
Getting Into the Game
New players who want instruction can start at the JCC of Youngstown. Private and semi-private pickleball lessons are available to members and nonmembers, and semi-private instruction can accommodate two to four players. That makes it useful for a couple or small group learning together. See lesson and pickleball program information.
The Davis Family YMCA also maintains a Pickleball 101 program designed to teach the basics in a six-week format, although there are no active sessions currently posted in its registration system. Players looking for individual instruction in the Boardman area can also use the Coaches section.
Open Play and Regular Pickleball
The clearest recurring organized play near Boardman is at the JCC of Youngstown. Adult open play runs four days each week, with evening sessions Monday and Thursday, a Wednesday morning session, and a longer Saturday morning block. Nonmembers can participate with pickleball passes, including a three-pass introductory option for first-time visitors. See the current open play schedule.
Davis Family YMCA remains an indoor Boardman option when pickleball is on the gym schedule. Because other YMCA programs take priority, use the current YMCA schedule for the active playing times.
Boardman Park provides public court access rather than a published organized session. It works well for arranged games, but players should not assume an open-play rotation will be running whenever the courts are available.
Playing During a Visit to Boardman
If you are visiting with a partner or group and want to play outdoors, Boardman Park is the straightforward local choice. The tennis/pickleball courts are first come, first served, so you can play without joining a club or reserving a scheduled session.
For indoor play in Boardman, Davis Family YMCA is the practical option. Visiting YMCA members can use Nationwide Membership when eligible, and other visitors can purchase a daily guest pass. Check the current gym schedule for pickleball before choosing your time.
If you are visiting alone or specifically want organized games, use an open play session at the JCC of Youngstown. The recurring schedule and nonmember pickleball passes give you a clearer route into games without arriving with a full group.
